Nevada To Pass Legalization Bill

There has been a lot of talk going on about the legalization of online gambling in the US. For years now online gambling has seen a series of ups and downs. But now the legalization journey has made some headway. With the news of the Reid Bill, there has benn speculation about which states would be applying the bill to have relaxed regulation of onlinr gambling and how fast these states will be implementing it. It looks like all roads lead to Vegas in this matter because a majority of the speculations refer to the State of Nevada and its pro gambling regulatory regime.

The State of Nevada is known to have highly experienced gambling regulatory bodies and they have had the matter of legalizing online gambling under review for some time now. According to some connoisseurs of Nevada’s gambling history, the state passed a statute that permitted online gambling but only under strictly controlled conditions which would be overseen by the Nevada Gaming Commission and the statute was passed as far back as 2001.

The online gambling industry is hopeful that the new bill will be adopted and legalized online gambling will finally be possible in the US. But there is still a great deal of concern regarding the fact that the bill Is more or less contrary to the strict position of federal US law which implies that if the bill does indeed get passed then Nevada would be in a position to venture into this sector, assuming that some state legislators would still be interested in such involvement.

Another assumption is that state would have to introduce measures against underage gambling and problem gambling and would also have to take steps to exclude gamblers from states where gambling is illegal.

The Nevada Gaming Commission however has not expressed any official stand with regard to the Reid Proposal.
